Concept and Measurement of the Food System Sustainability: A Bibliometric Research

In view of climate change and population growth, making food system sustainable is a global concern. A lot policies regulate this issue, but recent data show that (and national) systems are still far from the sustainability. Improvement existing in field regulation requires clear understanding sustainability concept itself: specification its traits, attributes, measurement indicators, goals. These issues reflected research papers, none these articles summarise major trends, content, features concept’s evolution. This study for first time summarises history contents through bibliometric analysis Scopus indexed papers 1991-2022. The growth scientific interest area, led by researchers USA, Italy, France, was found to be wave-like with peaks following crises appearance patterns. results modern perception (since 2018) complicated intertwined notions thinking, sustainability, life cycle assessment, contrasting previous views (1991-2018) focused on production security. general, little attention given social economic aspects contrast environmental, food, agri-food issues. elaboration one-size-fits-all policy solutions favouring suggested unlikely due complexity concept's perception.
